Butt Plugs FAQs

How do you use a butt plug?

Use plenty of lube, on the plug and on you. Relax, breathe out, and go slow. Your body opens up gradually, so let it. Only use a plug with a flared base, since anything without one can slip all the way in.

What size should I start with?

Go smaller than you think you need. Something around an inch across, or narrower, is a good starting point. If it's easy after a few sessions, you can size up from there.

What's the best material?

Body-safe silicone is the easy default. It's soft, has a little give, and is simple to clean. Stainless steel and glass are smoother and heavier, and you can warm or chill them first. Whatever you choose, skip jelly and other porous materials. If your plug is silicone, use water-based lube, because silicone lube can break down the surface.

How long can you wear one?

Start with 10 to 20 minutes and build up from there. Take it out if anything hurts, goes numb, or just feels wrong. Discomfort means stop, not push through.

Should I get a butt plug or a prostate massager?

It depends on what you want to feel. A plug gives you fullness and stays put. A prostate massager is curved to press on the prostate, which is where the more intense feelings come from. If that's what you're after, go straight to a massager.
